Postcard Sizes & Specifications
Three sizes cover every stage of a campaign — from low-cost primary ID drops to final-week jumbo persuasion mail. Variable data printing adds voter-level personalization to any size.
Standard 4.25 x 6 in
The most cost-efficient mail piece — lowest postage tier, fastest production. Best for high-volume primary mail and GOTV drops where reach beats real estate. 14pt or 16pt coated stock.
Oversized 6 x 9 in
Industry standard for persuasion and contrast mail. The bigger canvas means stronger headlines, larger photos, and clearer side-by-side comparisons. Most competitive campaigns build their primary mail program around this size.
Jumbo 6 x 11 in
Maximum mailbox presence — your piece is the one voters see first. Reserved for the final-week persuasion drop or the highest-priority contrast piece. Higher postage, but unmatched impact.
Variable Data Mailers
Print a different name, precinct, polling place, or supporter quote on every piece without slowing the press. Used for voter targeting, microtargeted contrast mail, and supporter-recognition pieces.
Print + Mail Under One Roof
The national online printers can produce postcards. They cannot handle a 36-hour in-home date when your contrast mail has to land before early voting opens. We do — because the press, the mail house, and the USPS induction all live in the same St. Louis shop. No drop-shipping. No vendor handoffs. No surprise delays.

Political Postcard Printing FAQs
How much does political postcard printing cost in St. Louis?▼
For 5,000-25,000 piece runs, all-in cost (printing, list processing, addressing, and bulk postage) typically lands between $0.30 and $0.60 per piece. Per-piece pricing drops at 50,000+. Jumbo 6x11 pieces cost more in both ink and postage; standard 4.25x6 pieces are the most economical. Pricing also depends on stock, coating, and whether you use variable data. Call (314) 849-7228 for a same-day quote — most come back within 4 hours.
What size are political postcard mailers?▼
Three sizes dominate political mail. Standard 4.25x6 in postcards qualify for the lowest USPS postage tier and are the workhorse of primary and GOTV mail. Oversized 6x9 in pieces — the industry standard for persuasion mail — give you room for stronger visuals and side-by-side contrast layouts. Jumbo 6x11 in postcards make maximum mailbox impact and are typically reserved for the final-week persuasion drop. We print all three in-house.
Do political postcards need a "paid for by" disclaimer in Missouri?▼
Yes. Missouri state law and federal FEC rules require a clear "Paid for by" attribution on every political mail piece, naming the candidate committee, party committee, PAC, or independent expenditure committee that funded the piece. For federal races, the disclaimer must also state whether the piece is "authorized by any candidate." Our prepress team checks every layout for disclaimer placement and union bug compliance before we go to press. Bring your latest filing data when you submit — we will help confirm the language.
Can political postcards carry the union bug?▼
Yes — and they should, if you are seeking labor endorsements. The union bug is the Allied Printing Trades Council label that confirms a piece was printed in a union shop. Many labor organizations — AFL-CIO, SEIU, IBEW, Teamsters — require the bug on campaign mail before they will issue or maintain an endorsement. MCI has been a union shop since 1984, so the bug goes on every campaign piece we print. Learn more about union compliance on our union printer page.
How long does political postcard printing take?▼
Standard turnaround from approved proof is 3-5 business days for printing. Add 1-2 days for list processing (NCOA, deduplication, presort) and 2-5 days for USPS in-home delivery after we drop the mail. End-to-end, plan 7-10 business days from approved files to mailbox under normal conditions. Rush service is available — call (314) 849-7228 and we will confirm what is possible for your in-home date.
When should I order for the 2026 Missouri primary?▼
Missouri primary day is August 4, 2026. For primary mail wave 1 (ID/persuasion), order by mid-June with an early-July in-home date. For wave 2 (contrast/persuasion), order in early July for mid-to-late July delivery. GOTV mail should be ordered by late July for the final week before the primary. For the November 3, 2026 general election, plan order windows in August, September, and mid-October. Earlier orders avoid rush fees and the October postal-rate crunch.
